Enrofloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat many types of infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is available as 11mg, 22mg, 67mg, 100mg, 135mg and 170mg capsules for dogs and cats. Enrofloxacin is a compound medication that expires 6 months after it is compounded. Enrofloxacin may be used in either dogs or cats to combat different types of infections, especially those involving Pseudomonas. Enrofloxacin is also active against Staphylococci, and thus is commonly used for infections of the skin. Enrofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic sold by the Bayer Corporation under the trade name Baytril. Enrofloxacin is currently approved by the FDA for the treatment of individual pets and domestic animals in the United States.
