Lactated Ringers Inj USP also known as Lactated Ringers Solution (LRS) is used for the treatment of dehydration and electrolyte depletion in animals. May be injected intravenously, subcutaneously or intraperitoneally (except horses) using aseptic technique. Lactated Ringers comes in 2 different types of bags- DEHP-Free bags from Braun, which is the item you are looking at, and the old style is PVC (Poly-vinyl Chloride) and contains a chemical, plastic softener called DEHP. According to the FDA, "Exposure to DEHP has produced a range of adverse effects in experimental animals, but those of greatest concern involve effects on the development of the testicles and the production of normal sperm in young animals." The FDA requires a written disclosure on products containing DEHP. Fluids are very heavy, about 2.5 pounds per bag or just over 30 pounds for a case of 12 bags.
