Terumo Needles 18 Gauge 1 inch Box of 100 TW

Terumo needles are sharper and flow faster than other needles of the same gauge. The 18 gauge Terumo needles are thin wall (TW) needles- which makes them easier to insert in the skin and allows the fluid to flow faster. 18 gauge needles are widely considered to be too big for cats and small dogs. Please consider a 20 or 21 gauge needle for smaller pets.

Description

Terumo needles are sharper and flow faster than other needles of the same gauge. The 18 gauge Terumo needles are thin wall (TW) needles- which makes them easier to insert in the skin and allows the fluid to flow faster. The Terumo 18 gauge needles are the needles of choice for administering sub-cutaneous fluids to very large dogs that weigh more than 80 pounds. Many consider 20 or 21 gauge needles to be a more appropriate gauge for cats and small dogs. Flow rate for 100ml- 0;53.

Perfect setup for our kitties!

Thanks Dave Pooser! Your review was so helpful. The 10 drop IV Admin Set Baxter DEHP 104 Inch Length with the extra sharp Terumo needles 18 gauge TW , thin wall, is the perfect set up for my cats. The needles are so sharp and less bulky that one cat doesn’t seem to notice it going in at all, the other went from a hiss to just a little wiggle. So much more comfortable for them and the one doing the poking. Then the 10 drop line gets the job done even quicker. My small town vet doesn’t carry the 10 drop, but mentioned it should be noticeably quicker. As always prices including the lactated ringer bags are much less expensive than the vet.
Thanks again Dave & Thriving Pets!

Larger thin wall needles and quick-flow line make subQ fluids a breeze!

Giving fluids to our kidney kitty was a struggle; we were trying to give her 100ml but the process took long enough that she would get agitated and we'd have to stop around 60-70 ml. We got the 18-gauge thin-wall needles and a 10-drop/ml line (replacing the 15-drop line we had been using) and the difference was astounding! We're giving her 150ml now in half the time it was taking to get 60ml into her, and it's a lot less stressful for her — she doesn't get agitated at all, beyond a tiny flinch when the needle goes in and a tiny flinch when it comes out. Quantity of fluids can be key to a cat's quality of life when they struggle with kidney disease, and these are an absolute lifesaver. If I could give them 6 stars I would.

Best needles to give fluids

Sought a sharper needle for daily fluids for our cat with compromised kidneys, and these are the ticket. He is far less resistant and fluids go in quickly.
