The 18 gauge Terumo needles are thin wall (TW) needles- which makes them easier to insert in the skin and allows the fluid to flow faster. The Terumo 18 gauge needles are the needles of choice for administering sub-cutaneous fluids to very large dogs that weigh more than 80 pounds. Many consider 20 or 21 gauge needles to be a more appropriate gauge for cats and small dogs. Flow rate for 100ml- 0;53.

thin walled needles

my cat no longer jerks in pain when I stick him for SQ fluids and they appear to be as strong as the traditional needles. also does not affect the flow time.
