Tried the Terumo Needles 25 Gauge

The needles were so thin and made my uncomfortable to use them, flimsy. Administering the fluids to my cat with a 25 gauge takes way to long. who already is a handful and my husband has to hold him for me to do the procedure. The 25 gauge needle also slips out easier than the 20 gauge. I love the 20 gauge Terumo for administering sub fluids, the process goes by very quickly but will not use the 25 gauge.

25 gauge needles are MUCH too small for giving subq fluids. ThrivingPets does not recommend using 25 gauge needles for subcutaneous fluids. The 25 gauge needles may be a good option for subcutaneous injections of medications. Hope this clears this up. If you have any questions about what is the best gauge of needles for your pet, please contact us at 303-333-1899.

Consider using a MUCH SMALLER needle

The 25 and 26 gauge are pretty much the same except the 26 is a short needle and the 25 is the regular longer length that you are probably used to.The good thing about the 26 gauge is that you are def. going to get subQ, under the skin, and not be poking into anything you shouldn't (or thru the other side of his skin. BUT because it is small, you MUST keep you hand on the needle area during the water giving. If kitty moves a bit the needle can slip out. You'll know because you then get water on his fur!If you find it is too hard to hold the needle in place, you can always go up to the 25 gauge so that it's longer and therefore more securely under the skin.
